The Smithdown Road branch initially closed on Sunday, May 17 at 4pm.‌At the time, Aldi apologised for the inconvenience caused and said the store was getting “freshened up”. Now, shoppers will be able to see the refresh themselves at the end of the month. The store closed back in February for an initial two weeks.‌The closures form part of a wider programme of store extensions announced by the supermarket. Earlier this year, Aldi revealed plans to invest £300 million in upgrading and expanding existing UK stores in 2026.
