Listed criminal 'Pichchi Zahed' hacked to death in Ctg's Satkania

Zahedul Islam alias “Pichchi Zahed”, a listed criminal, was hacked to death in Satkania upazila of Chattogram last night.Mohammad Ariful Islam Siddiqui, additional superintendent of police of Satkania Circle, told The Daily Star that police suspect a previous rivalry was behind the killing.“He was hacked, but nothing was looted from him,” he said.The incident occurred in the southern part of Purangarh Union when Zahed was travelling by motorcycle. A group of unidentified assailants intercepted him and hacked him.Locals and family members rescued him and took him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Zahed was among 330 criminals whose entry and stay in Chattogram city had been banned by the authorities earlier this year in the interest of public safety, according to CMP sources.
