LETTER: Time for congressional term limits
Richard Augulis Las Vegas August 23, 2026 - 9:00 pm The essence of the Aug. 16 commentary, “Will far-left candidates cause problems for the Dems?” seemed to be that a dissatisfied public will support different and controversial candidates to effect change. This is one approach — with an outcome and results unknown. There is a better way: If you perform with non-acceptable results, you’re out. The easiest way to control politicians is term limits. You stay in your job for a defined period. However, we employers mandate you take a break after a set amount of time in office. Unlimited elected terms are out. We could set it at two terms for senators and four terms for House members. This eliminates career politicians who live in the people’s house for too much of their lives and stay in office
