LETTER: Narrow-minded fights against data centers
In the July 7 edition Review-Journal reporter Alan Halaly quotes Brynn deLorimier, a Boulder City resident, as saying that “the fight” against a data center “is just starting, and we’ll fight every step of the way.” How narrow-minded can one be? Shouldn’t opponents ask if this data center, like so many others, has a closed-loop water cooling system rather than depleting any water? Or if the project will have its own power generation, not touch the power grid and may even give excess power to the grid? It’s very possible the data center will provide tax revenue and additional energy and help Boulder City build needed infrastructure, provide well-paying jobs and help the city build beneficial facilities such as parks for kids. Maybe it’s best to get all the facts before deciding to fight eve
