LETTER: Judge gives driver probation
Linda Cassaro Las Vegas July 30, 2026 - 9:00 pm District Judge Jennifer Schwartz sentenced Jesus Barraza to a suspended sentence of 28 to 72 months for causing the death of a pedestrian (Thursday Review-Journal). Barraza’s probation included a curfew, restitution, maintaining employment, taking a driver’s safety class and completing 100 hours of community service. Barraza was going twice the speed limit when his vehicle hit Devin Heath while he was crossing the street in a residential neighborhood. While Barraza is doing his community service, taking his driver safety class and maintaining employment, the family of their Mr. Heath will be visiting his resting place.
