LETTER: Immigration enforcement

Dennis Fitzpatrick North Las Vegas August 30, 2026 - 9:00 pm Your Aug. 13 editorial stated that “ICE has been embroiled in controversy for most of President Donald Trump’s second term, as opponents of securing the nation’s borders object to the tactics used by agents as they apprehend those in the country illegally.” Really? You might be surprised to know that there are a great many people who are not opposed to securing the nation’s borders, but they are opposed to the tactics used by ICE that contradict the laws as specified in U.S. Constitution which include the right to due process and protection from illegal search and seizure. I am also opposed to the lack of uniforms, wearing of face masks and not using body cameras. I am sure that doesn’t make me opposed to securing our borders.
