‘Legal action shouldn’t depend on religious identity’: A.P. BJP on Kakinada tragedy

BJP unit of Andhra Pradesh on Monday sought a comprehensive probe into the deaths of Pithapuram Panchayat Raj Assistant Engineer Nookaraju’s family, covering angles of blackmail, threats, financial exploitation and attempted forced religious conversion.State BJP chief P.V.N. Madhav demanded that the government take stringent action against Sk. Sadhik Khan, who is facing abetment of suicide charges in the case. On “love jihad” allegations made by the victim’s family, Mr. Madhav said that legal action must be based on evidence and investigation, not on religious identity.He urged the DGP Harish Gupta and Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita to disclose details of complaints relating to harassment of women and girls, FIRs registered, investigations completed and action taken against accused person
