Lawmakers spare their own budget while cutting others

By Lin Che-yuan / Staff reporter Legislators yesterday sparred over the Legislative Yuan’s budget, which opposition lawmakers left untouched despite cutting the budgets of other agencies. A legislative report showed that only two legislative committees completed a preliminary review of this year’s general budget plan while the other six committees have yet to submit a report on the budget.Lawmakers left intact NT$3.87 billion (US$120.23 million) allocated to the opposition-dominated legislature, while retaining seven proposals submitted by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislators to freeze about NT$120 million.
