The man is believed to have gone overboard during an overnight crossing between Dublin and Holyhead. The Irish Coast Guard was alerted by the UK’s HM Coastguard, which is coordinating the search, at 9.40am. A broadcast was made, and nearby vessels assisted in the early search for the man. The Irish Coast Guard is assisting the HM Coastguard in the operation. There is a large Irish and British marine rescue presence spanning the ferry route.
