KMT wins ‘ill-gotten’ estate lawsuit against CIPAS

The Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) on Thursday won a lawsuit against a government agency that was attempting to collect NT$3.2 billion (US$98.89 million) for land the party sold, which the authority ruled was acquired illegally during the authoritarian era.The Supreme Administrative Court rejected an appeal by the Ill-gotten Party Assets Settlement Committee (CIPAS), upholding a lower court ruling last year that revoked its right to collect funds from the opposition party.The ruling cannot be appealed.
