Karnataka forms sub-committee to vet revised minimum wages

The Karnataka government on Tuesday announced the composition of the Cabinet sub-committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwar, set up to review the revision of minimum wages.The committee will study whether the May 22, 2026, notification enhancing minimum wages is in consonance with the Code on Wages, 2019, brought by the Union government. The decision to constitute the sub-committee was taken by the Cabinet, which deliberated on minimum wages on August 13.While labour unions have welcomed the revision of minimum wages, pending for nearly five years, industries have opposed it, stating that the hike is too steep and could drive away investments.The committee comprises Heavy and Medium Industries Minister M.B.
