Kannur Corporation sacks engineer on bribery charge

The Kannur Corporation dismissed a temporary assistant engineer from service pending inquiry after he was arrested by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) while allegedly accepting a bribe.Mayor P. Indira issued the order following his remand by the Thalassery Vigilance Court.P. Mohammed Aslam, a contract employee posted at the Corporation’s Edakkad zonal office, was caught on Monday evening (July 27) while allegedly accepting the first installment of a ₹20,000 bribe demanded for processing a building permit application submitted by a property owner from Koodali.The complainant alleged that the building permit application had been kept pending for over 10 months before Aslam demanded the bribe.
