The news was released in a statement which reported that his death this Monday was 'sudden and unexpected' but he had been surrounded by loved ones.‌The New Zealand star's award-winning career included Jurassic Park, with his role as Dr Alan Grant in the dinosaur movie franchise being among his best known, and the first two series of Peaky Blinders in which he memorably played ruthless police inspector Chester Campbell out to target the Shelbys. He was actually born in northern Ireland and moved to New Zealand as a child.‌He died in Sydney, Australia. The actor previously had been diagnosed with cancer but in April this year
