John Lewis to potentially axe two in-store services putting 200 jobs at risk
John Lewis has proposed the closure of two important services across dozens of stores. It puts hundreds of jobs at risk of being lost. The department chain is considering closing down several of its bureaux de change areas due to a "declining demand" for the service. If plans go ahead, it would see the currency service switch to online. John Lewis told the Daily Record that many of its customers now choose to order currency online, use their credit cards or make digital payments when abroad. As of writing, the changes have only been proposed, with no final decision yet confirmed. However, if they are accepted, it will see bureaux de change areas removed from 30 John Lewis stores.
