Italy's raging heatwave set to continue for at least another week

The current heatwave that is baking Italy, the fourth of the year so far, is forecast to continue for at least another week, with temperatures close to 38-39° C in some areas. On Monday 19 of the 27 major cities that the Italian health ministry monitors for its heat warnings were on the maximum red alert - Ancona, Bari, Bologna, Campobasso, Catania, Civitavecchia, Florence, Frosinone, Genoa, Latina, Messina, Naples, Palermo, Perugia, Pescara, Reggio Calabria, Rieti, Rome and Viterbo. Brescia will join them on Wednesday, taking the total up to 20.
