‘It was a beautiful place to live’: Years later, former residents still call Uranium City home in their hearts

June of 1981 marked the beginning of the end to Uranium City’s rapid expansion. Eldorado Nuclear announced the closure of the Beaverlodge mining site, which was the main source of income for most of the households in Uranium City.
