Indonesia, US and allies launch annual exercises
Reuters, BANDUNG, Indonesia Add TT as Preferred Source The US and Indonesia yesterday launched their annual joint military exercises, the first since announcing a new defense partnership this year, with drills from airborne jumps and missile launches to jungle warfare training and cyberdefense.“Super Garuda Shield,” held annually since 2006, is to run until Friday next week and include more than 4,700 personnel, with 13 other countries taking part, including Japan, South Korea, Australia and Canada.The exercises are to take place in several regions of Indonesia and include infiltration drills, firing of stinger missiles, jungle training and naval maneuvers.
