Indiana Dunes lodge reopens after 50 years, with a time capsule found inside
According to the report, in 1941, the U.S. Steel Company built the lodge for the children of its employees. The Good Fellow Youth Camp, which ran from 1941 to 1975, provided generations of young people with an opportunity to get outdoors in what would later become Indiana Dunes National Park.Generations of Northwest Indiana children began their adventure at a summer camp along the Little Calumet River. Almost a century after the lodge opened its doors, the historic building at Indiana Dunes National Park is once again open for visitors.
