I’ve watched Chennai grow and change through the years

My earliest memories are of a very different Madras — quiet roads, broad pavements, tree-lined streets, and spacious homes. Early mornings brought milk and newspaper deliveries, temple music during Margazhi, and MGR songs from loudspeakers.The Marina Beach was another favourite. It was quieter and cleaner then, and later became part of my routine through morning walks with my dogs and familiar faces along the shore.December meant the music season. As a busy doctor, concerts offered a much-needed break, while sabha canteens, filter coffee, and conversations became part of the experience.Chennai has also been deeply welcoming to me as a doctor.
