‘I’ll Never Bow Down’: Democrat Announces She Refuses To Step Aside As Party Leaders Left Frustrated

August 11, 2026 4:29 PM ET Montana Democrat Senate nominee Alani Bankhead announced Monday that she refused to drop out of her campaign, which would have given the independent candidate, Seth Bodnar, a better chance to defeat his opponent, Republican Kurt Alme. With the Monday deadline over for candidates to drop out of the race, Bankhead will appear on the November 3 ballot, alongside Bodnar and Alme. Over 20 local Montana Democrat lawmakers and former Democratic Party Leaders had asked Bankhead to drop the race, according to Politico. “I’ll never bow down,” Bankhead said during a press conference, according to Politico.
