NewsCost Of LivingHMRCHMRC clawback set to begin13:38, 14 Aug 2026HMRC is set to deduct cash from state pensioners in 2026, 2027, 2028 and 2029 under the Winter Fuel Payment clawback scheme. The Labour Party government will pay eligible state pensioners either £200 or £300 in the form of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) WFP.‌But if you have received the Winter Fuel Payment HMRC may take it back if your personal income is over £35,000. HMRC explains: "If you live in a household with someone else who has also received a payment, we’ll look at each person’s individual income separately. For example, if your income is £36,000 and your partner’s income is £22,000, we’ll take back your payment, but your partner will keep their payment."‌To take it back, HMRC will change your tax code.
