Heavy rains lash parts of Kodagu district: Holiday for schools in Madikeri and Somwarpet taluks

In view of the heavy rains lashing parts of Kodagu district, a holiday has been declared for all anganwadi centres, primary schools and high schools in Madikeri and Somwarpet taluks.The tahsildars of Madikeri and Somwarpet have issued orders in this regard under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act 2005.The orders cite continuous heavy rainfall in the region causing difficulties in ensuring the safety and transportation of school children. The persistent heavy rain in parts of the region has disrupted normal life, and there is a potential risk to students commuting safely to and from school. Published - July 31, 2026 11:59 pm IST
