Heatwave returning, 8 cities on red alert on Friday

After a very brief respite, a fresh heatwave is hitting Italy again, especially in Central and Southern Italy. Temperatures will begin to rise today, peaking on Friday, August 28, with 8 cities on red alert. Health risk alerts are in place for Bari, Cagliari, Campobasso, Catania, Latina, Messina, Palermo, Reggio Calabria, and Rome. Nine cities are on orange alert (negative effects on the health of the most susceptible population): Ancona, Bologna, Civitavecchia, Florence, Frosinone, Perugia, Pescara, Rieti, and Viterbo.
