GST collections jump 14.8% to Rs 1.99 lakh crore in August

The government collected Rs 1,99,853 crore in gross GST revenue during August.NEW DELHI: The gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue rose 14.8 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,99,853 crore in August 2026, according to provisional government data released on Tuesday.Net GST revenue for the month, after refunds, increased 8.3 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,68,057 crore from Rs 1,55,181 crore a year ago.The rise in gross collections was driven by both domestic transactions and imports. Gross revenue from domestic transactions grew 9.3 per cent to Rs 1,37,249 crore in August, compared with Rs 1,25,570 crore in the same month last year.Revenue from imports saw a sharper increase, rising 29 per cent to Rs 62,604 crore from Rs 48,546 crore a year earlier.Abhishek Jain, Partner and National Head, I
