Govt plans to revive Dhaka waterways
The government has decided to revive the waterways surrounding Dhaka and is considering allowing private companies to operate water buses after reviewing their proposals.The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Cabinet Division's special meeting room at the Secretariat at 10:30am today.Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Shahadat Shadhin confirmed the development.According to a press release, the prime minister directed the authorities concerned to prevent pollution in Dhaka's rivers, improve the drainage system, and maintain navigability and the natural flow of water.He also instructed the authorities to plant different species of trees along riverfront walkways to protect the environment and enhance the beauty of the riverbanks.Minister Shai
