Government bodies urged to collaborate on APEC subfund

By Jake Chung / Staff writer, with CNA Add TT as Preferred Source The Executive Yuan yesterday called on all ministries and agencies to work together under the nation’s integrated diplomacy strategy to advance Taiwan’s first-ever dedicated healthcare subfund under APEC.In May, Taiwan contributed US$1.5 million to establish APEC’s first dedicated healthcare subfund, targeting the region’s rapidly aging populations and widening gaps in access to care.A memorandum of understanding formalizing the contribution was signed by Jonathan Sun (孫儉元), Taiwan’s senior official for APEC, and Eduardo Pedrosa, executive director of the APEC secretariat, on the sidelines of the second APEC senior officials’ meeting in Shanghai in May.
