Giancarlo Stanton's 'new' injury is horrible update from Yankees' Brian Cashman
It appears Giancarlo Stanton is nowhere near a return for the New York Yankees. The designated hitter has been out with a calf strain since April 24. Last month, manager Aaron Boone said that Stanton suffered a setback in his recovery. But that wasn't the whole story. On Thursday, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman provided clarity on Stanton's "setback," saying that, instead, the 36-year-old is dealing with a new injury to his calf. “He had a new injury, so it kind of resets the whole thing,” Cashman told reporters, including The Athletic's Chris Kirschner at Tropicana Field in Tampa, Fla. “Ultimately, it was an unfortunate circumstance.
