Former Yankees slugger, MLB home run leader out for season in Japan

A former New York Yankees first baseman is out for the season with an injury in Japan. According to Yakyu Cosmopolitan on X, Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles slugger Luke Voit underwent right elbow surgery. Voit began his Nippon Professional Baseball career with the Eagles in 2025. He hit 13 home runs with an .887 OPS in 67 games last season. However, he played in just 20 games this season and managed an ugly .353 OPS.
