Former West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s niece found dead at Birbhum residence

The victim was a non-teaching staff in a government school but lost her job when the High Court cancelled the jobs of hundreds of employees over alleged irregularities in the 2016 SSC examinationA 31-year-old woman, who was the niece of former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was found dead at her residence in West Bengal’s Birbhum on Tuesday (September 1, 2026). Police said that she was the daughter of one of Ms. Banerjee’s maternal cousins who was also a local Trinamool Congress leader in Birbhum’s Kusumba village under Rampurhat Police Station.
