Former Monaghan player Stephen Gollogly dies

Updated / Thursday, 23 Jul 2026 18:28 Stephen Gollogly had a long and distinguished playing career with Monaghan and Carrickmacross Emmets Former Monaghan forward Stephen Gollogly has died. A native of Carrickmacross, he won two Ulster titles with his county in 2013 and 2015. Gollogly also claimed Allianz Football League medals in Division 2 (twice) and Division 3 over a 14-year inter-county career. An Under-21 player in 2004, Gollogly, fondly known as 'Jinxy', made 133 competitive appearances for the Monaghan seniors between 2004 and 2017, scoring 3-71 along the way. Away from playing, he set up a business selling tactics board within football and also worked with local media as a co-commentator and analyst.
