Former Dodgers pitching prospect with 6.48 ERA released by Royals
The Kansas City Royals have released a right-handed reliever who had previously recorded 56 saves with the organization from 2018-23. According to the MiLB transaction log, the Royals cut ties with Scott Barlow on Friday.Barlow signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Athletics during the offseason, but his tenure with the AL West club was ugly. The 33-year-old posted a 6.48 ERA with 19 walks compared to 29 strikeouts in 33.1 innings. After the A's released Barlow on June 24, the former Los Angeles Dodgers prospect latched onto a minor league deal with the Royals. He posted a 5.65 ERA in 14.2 innings at Triple-A Omaha and did not receive a promotion to the Majors.
