Football club issues statement after player abused following Bury v Curzon Ashton match

Curzon Ashton travelled to Gigg Lane to take on Bury FC in their second Northern Premier League match of the season last night (August 11).‌The Ashton-under-Lyne side were ahead at half time but slipped to a 3-2 defeat in the second half. Striker Tony Weston - who had scored twice in the first half - saw a late penalty saved as Curzon missed the chance to equalise.‌The club's board of directors has since issued a statement condemning online abuse following the match.
