Five dead, unknown number missing in ferry fire

Survivors said on Monday they heard multiple explosions before an Indonesian passenger ferry caught fire, killing at least five passengers and prompting many to jump into the sea, with some still missing more than 24 hours later.There were 236 people aboard the vessel when it left Surabaya for Makassar on Sunday morning, Surabaya search and rescue agency head Nanang Sigit said.Nanang said yesterday that 229 people had been rescued alive and five were recovered dead, adding that only two people were unaccounted for, according to the manifest.
