Feminist activist and journalist Gloria Steinem dies aged 92

Gloria Steinem, the American writer, lecturer, activist and organizer who fought for gender equality and women's civil and reproductive rights for more than five decades, has died aged 92.She died yesterday at her home in New York City, according to her and her foundation's social media pages.The co-founder and consulting editor of Ms. Magazine championed the feminist movement from the late 1960s onwards and inspired generations of women. With her trademark streaked hair parted down the middle and large aviator glasses, Steinem, was a hugely recognizable presence wherever she went.
