Father hands over son to police after attempted rape of 6-year-old in Jashore

A man handed his 20-year-old son over to police after the youth was allegedly caught attempting to rape a six-year-old in Jashore's Manirampur upazila yesterday.The accused youth, identified as Shanto Islam, is from Jamjamia village in Shyamkur union under the upazila.Following the incident, the victim’s father filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Manirampur Police Station last night, said the police station’s Officer-in-Charge Abu Sayeed.According to police and local sources, Shanto took the child to a pump house behind Jamjamia Madrasa before evening yesterday and attempted to rape her.
