Farm pond works gain momentum in Telangana, over 4,300 sites identified

HYDERABADConstruction of farm ponds through women self-help groups (SHGs) under the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission-Gramin (VB G RAM G) has gained momentum, with 4,348 works identified as of July 30. This represents 33% of the target of 13,046 farm ponds planned under the Village Organisation (VO) component of the programme.The programme, also called as Telangana Jalasiri, envisages construction of two farm ponds for each of the State’s 6,523 A-grade Village Organisations, taking the overall target under the VO component to 13,046. Nearly 9,930 wage seekers are currently engaged in the identified works. However, officials said no farm pond has been completed so far as the programme is still in its initial stage.District-
