EXCLUSVIE: Los Angeles County Throws In Towel, Agrees To Stop Dragging Feet On Concealed Carry Permits

August 13, 2026 4:08 PM ET The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Thursday that Los Angeles County agreed to issue concealed carry permits in accordance with a landmark Supreme Court decision.The DOJ’s Civil Rights Division sued the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) and Sheriff Robert Luna in September 2025, in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, alleging the department displayed a “pattern or practice” of infringing Second Amendment rights through unreasonable delays in processing concealed carry weapon (CCW) permit applications.
