Excise STF seizes jaggery worth ₹2.5 lakh meant for illicit liquor production

Excise STF officers along with the seized jaggery and the two accused men on Monday. | Photo Credit: By Arrangement The Telangana Excise Special Task Force (STF) seized 2,250 kg of jaggery and 250 kg of alum allegedly being transported for the manufacture of illicit liquor, officials said on Monday. The seizure was made by the Excise STF-B team led by Sub-Inspector Balaraju, who intercepted a van travelling from Hyderabad towards Devarakonda based on specific information.During the inspection, officials found jaggery and alum worth an estimated ₹2.5 lakh concealed in the vehicle. Both materials are commonly used in the preparation of illicitly distilled liquor. The Excise Department registered a case against two persons and seized the vehicle used for transporting the consignment.The accus
