Excise department incinerates ₹3.5 crore worth of marijuana seized in 32 cases in Khammam
The Excise department on Thursday destroyed 696.1 kg of marijuana worth an estimated ₹3.5 crore that had been seized in 32 cases registered across four excise stations in the Khammam district.The destruction was carried out on the orders of Khammam Deputy Commissioner Somireddy at the government-approved disposal facility at Gopalpet in Tallada mandal.The contraband included 316.07 kg seized by the Kothagudem Excise Station, 329.51 kg by the Bhadrachalam Excise Station, 43.62 kg by the Palvancha Excise Station and 6.9 kg by the Manuguru Excise Station.The seized marijuana was incinerated in the presence of Excise Superintendent Srinivas Reddy, circle inspectors and other department officials in accordance with the prescribed procedure for disposal of narcotic substances.
