Eric Drooker’s “Outside Art”

For the cover of the August 10, 2026, issue, the painter and graphic novelist Eric Drooker depicted the Guggenheim Museum as a cool clearing in a forest. “I grew up amid Manhattan’s monotonous grid and found the endless boxes, aligned along strict perpendiculars, overwhelming.
