A post on Merseyside Police Contact Centre at 6.20pm said police had been called to the eastbound carriageway of Edge Lane and Edge Lane Drive in Old Swan, heading towards Broad Green and the M62.‌Police said the officers had implemented lane closures due to a spillage on the road. The force added: "We are working with our partner agencies to clear this spillage, however there will be a delay in travel time until further notice."‌Traffic monitoring service Inrix said two lanes have been closed and there is "queueing traffic" due to a "fuel spillage".
