DWP to reassess 150,000 claimants from September with benefit scrapped

NewsCost Of LivingDWP150,000 claimants still in scope09:16, 23 Jul 2026Updated 09:18, 23 Jul 2026The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is set to recommence the transfer process for around 150,000 adult Disability Living Allowance claimants to Personal Independence Payment (PIP).‌The DWP will move 150,000 claimants still in scope to be reassessed for PIP. An initial test involving around 3,000 claimants will begin in September with the government then set to reintroduce the wider transfer programme.‌Under the programme, people won't automatically get PIP.
