The registration number on a vehicle is supposed to establish its identity. Instead, it is increasingly becoming something criminals can copy, alter and misuse. Across Hyderabad and beyond, cloned number plates are leaving innocent motorists to deal with wrongful traffic challans, police scrutiny and the fear of being linked to crimes they never committed.
