Metal barriers erected after the Union Street fire has come down in Glasgow Central as the station prepares to reopen. The exclusion zone that was put into place after the blaze on March 8, is being taken away in "another step forward" for the station to return to normal. Bosses at the transport hub announced last week that the barriers would be removed allowing access to the full concourse on July 13. Following this, the Gordon Street and Union Street entrances will reopen on Friday, July 17 upon which the temporarily pedestrianised carriage driveway will be closed to customers and the station will resume normal operation.
