DPP urges investigation of AI video mimicking Lai

By Kayleigh Madjar / Staff writer, with CNA Add TT as Preferred Source The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) yesterday called for a judicial investigation into the potentially illegal use of artificial intelligence (AI) to impersonate the voice of President William Lai (賴清德) in a video criticizing the government’s handling of a cooking oil safety scandal.The Criminal Investigation Bureau on Sunday said it had received a report regarding the video, titled “It’s Out of Your Control” (油不得你). Officers are investigating the matter, as using video could mislead the public into believing it was an official statement from the president, it said.
