Diesel price returns to pre-excise tax decree level

Diesel prices on the highway in Italy have returned to the levels of August 4, the day the cabinet issued the latest excise tax decree and extended the 17 cent per litre diesel tax cut, already in effect since July 28, until August 25, the transport ministry said Tuesday. According to the latest data from the ministry's Fuel Price Observatory, the average price of diesel on the highway today is €2.173 (compared to €2.170 yesterday and €2.173 on August 4) and for self-service gasoline it is €2.073 (2.071 yesterday). On the national road network, the average price of fuel in self-service mode is 1.994 euros for petrol (yesterday 1.992 euros) and 2.099 euros for diesel (compared to 2.093 euros yesterday and 2.100 euros on August 4).
