Devils get update on Barrett Hayton's offer sheet decision as Mammoth approach deadline
The offer sheet limbo in the NHL can be a bit difficult.The New Jersey Devils and Barrett Hayton agreed on a contract, but since he's a restricted free agent, the Utah Mammoth have a week to match it.That week won't arrive until July 9, at least based on the reported dates involved, and so the Devils are a couple of days away from knowing for sure whether they get Hayton or not.The Devils' agreement with Hayton was for $4.775 million in annual average value.If Utah doesn't match it, the Devils will send them a second-round pick.For New Jersey, Hayton would come to town as a player with 124 points in 264 games over the last four seasons.
