CRIME STATS: Murder drops 5.9%, but political killings spike ahead of local government elections

The latest police crime statistics show an overall 2.3% drop in contact crimes and a sharp decline in robberies. However, persistent gang violence, recent political assassinations and organised crime continue to pose security threats nationwide.
