CPI(M) seeks high-level inquiry into tribal student’s death

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Monday demanded a high-level, impartial inquiry into the death of 15-year-old tribal student Murram Shivani and urged the Andhra Pradesh government to ascertain the circumstances that led to her alleged suicide and extend immediate assistance to her family.In a statement, CPI(M) Andhra Pradesh State Secretary V. Srinivasa Rao expressed shock over the death of Shivani, a resident of Irlapalli Kotha Colony in Rampachodavaram mandal, and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family.Mr. Rao demanded ₹25 lakh as compensation for the family, establishment of counselling centres in tribal welfare hostels and schools, and measures to address the psychological, financial and social challenges faced by tribal students.
