Court sentences Gouda man to 6 years, forced psychiatric care for brother’s murder

The court imposed six years in prison and TBS with compulsory treatment, a Dutch order requiring forced psychiatric care. Experts determined the defendant suffers from a delusional disorder “with a religious coloring.” The court explained that the way the defendant killed the victim “belongs, in terms of violence and horror, to an exceptional category.”The attack occurred Aug. 26 of last year in the family’s home on Rentmeesterslag in Gouda.
